Black people in the Bible

Are there Black people in the Bible? A quick look at old Sunday school books suggests there aren’t many, and no one important. However, for many centuries, Black and white Christians alike saw many Black people in the Bible, based on specific passages. We’ll be looking at those stories, from the Garden of Eden to the end of the Flood, to Blacks in the gospels. We’ll discuss why Blacks seem so invisible in the Bible now, and the different ways in which racism has drawn on scripture to justify the oppression of Black people, especially during the 400-year era of slavery. All are welcome to attend. Hosted by Rev. Stephen Milton.
