Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder’s Meditations on Hope and Courage (by Steven Charleston)

Join us for a Zoom discussion group led by ESG member Janet Hardy, a graduate of Emmanual College with a Masters in Pastoral Studies. Author, Steven Charleston, is an elder of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a bishop in the Episcopal Church with 40 years as an ordained minister. In his book he describes the rungs of the ladder to spiritual awakening: faith, blessing, hope, community, action, truth, renewal and transformation. We will explore the commonalities between Indigenous and Christian Spirituality, especially as it relates to the fundamental belief in the worth and equality of all life
